Discover the Historic Pangasinan Capitol: Seat of Government and Significant Landmark in the Northern Philippines

Pangasinan Capitol

Ralph Doane

The Pangasinan Capitol is the seat of government of the provincial government of Pangasinan, a province in the northern region of the Philippines. It is located in the capital city of Lingayen and is considered as one of the most historic landmarks in the province.

The Capitol Building of Pangasinan boasts of its neoclassical architecture, with its front facade composed of tall pillars and ornamented pediments. The building served as the venue of the historic Lingayen Gulf Landings, where General Douglas MacArthur landed with Allied forces to liberate the Philippines from Japanese occupation during World War II.

Today, the Pangasinan Capitol hosts the offices of the Provincial Governor, Vice Governor, Provincial Board, and other provincial departments. It also serves as a venue for various cultural and social events, such as the annual Pista’y Dayat (Feast of the Sea), a celebration of the province’s rich maritime heritage.
