Jane Addams (not Adams) was a social reformer and activist who is best known for founding Hull House, a settlement house in Chicago in 1889. Hull House was a community center that provided social and educational services to immigrants and working-class people in the city. Addams’ vision was to create a space where people from different backgrounds could come together and learn from each other.
Throughout her life, Addams advocated for social justice and worked to improve the lives of marginalized people. She was a leader in the women’s suffrage movement and helped to establish the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She also worked for peace during World War I and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931.
