The frustration-aggression hypothesis suggests that frustration often leads to aggression, which is a behavior intended to cause harm or injury to another person.

According to this hypothesis, frustration can result from anything that blocks an individual’s efforts to achieve a goal. This frustration can be caused by either external factors (such as a physical obstacle or interference from another person) or internal factors (such as feelings of inadequacy or incompetence).

When an individual becomes frustrated, they may respond with aggression as a way of releasing their pent-up feelings of anger and anxiety. This aggression may be directed towards the source of the frustration or towards innocent bystanders who happened to be present at the time.

It’s important to note that not everyone who becomes frustrated will act out in an aggressive manner. Additionally, frustration is not always the primary cause of aggression. Other factors such as personality traits, past experiences, and situational factors can also contribute to aggressive behavior.

Furthermore, recent research has shown that the frustration-aggression hypothesis is not universally applicable across cultures. This suggests that other cultural and social factors may also play a role in determining how individuals respond to frustration.
