Velocity is a measure of the speed of the fluid or substance as it flows through a given point, expressed in units of distance per unit of time (such as meters/second or feet/minute). In many cases, velocity can be related to volume flow rate and mass flow rate by multiplying the cross-sectional area of the flow path by the velocity at a given point.
