However, if they struggle to form a coherent identity, they may experience role confusion, feelings of uncertainty and indecisiveness about their future, and difficulty establishing close relationships.

Parents, educators, and other adults can support adolescents in this stage by providing opportunities for exploration, fostering open communication, and encouraging self-reflection and introspection. It is important to create a safe, supportive environment in which adolescents can freely express their thoughts and feelings and receive validation and guidance. Ultimately, successfully navigating this stage lays the foundation for a fulfilling and purposeful adult life.
