mRNA (messenger RNA) carries genetic information from DNA to ribosomes, where it is used as a template to synthesize proteins. Viruses do not have their own ribosomes and cannot produce proteins without the host cell’s ribosomes. Therefore, they must first enter the host cell and hijack its cellular machinery to make their own mRNA.

tRNA (transfer RNA) and miRNA (microRNA) are also essential components in protein synthesis, but they are not necessary for the replication of viruses. Some viruses may produce their own unique small RNA molecules, such as viral miRNAs, but these molecules are not required for the virus’s life cycle.
