4. Optical rain gauges: These gauges use optical sensors to measure the amount of precipitation, making them useful for measuring a wide range of rainfall intensity.
Regardless of the type you choose, it is important to place the rain gauge in an open area, away from trees or buildings, to ensure accurate readings. The device should also be leveled and regularly checked for debris that may affect its accuracy.
