What is chromatin
Condensed DNA or RNA
Chromatin is the combination of DNA and proteins that make up the contents of the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell. It is a complex of DNA, histone proteins, non-histone proteins, and RNA molecules that are organized into structures called nucleosomes. Nucleosomes are the basic building blocks of chromatin, consisting of DNA wound around a core of eight histone proteins. The structure of chromatin is dynamic and can change depending on factors such as gene expression, DNA replication, and chromosomal rearrangements. The packaging of DNA into chromatin helps to protect the DNA from damage as well as regulate gene expression by controlling access to genes for transcriptional regulators.
