ductus deferens
(aka vas deferens) tube that receives sperm from the epididymis
The ductus deferens is a muscular tube that serves as a pathway for sperm to travel from the epididymis to the urethra during ejaculation. It is part of the male reproductive system and is one of two ducts that originate in the epididymis, the other being the epididymal duct.
Once the sperm reaches the ductus deferens, it is propelled forward by the rhythmic contractions of the muscle layers of the ductus deferens. The ductus deferens also plays a role in the storage and maturation of sperm.
During a vasectomy, the ductus deferens is cut and tied off to prevent sperm from entering the ejaculate. This results in a form of permanent contraception.
