When an antigen enters the body, it triggers the immune system to produce specific antibodies that can recognize and neutralize it. Once the antigen-antibody complex is formed, it can be eliminated from the body by various immune mechanisms, such as phagocytosis or complement activation.

Antibodies are often used in medical diagnosis and treatment, such as in the COVID-19 test, where antibodies are used to detect the presence of the virus in a patient’s blood. They can also be used to treat certain diseases, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders, by targeting specific molecules on the surface of cells.
