The palate is the roof of the mouth, which separates the oral cavity from the nasal cavity. It is made up of two parts: the hard palate and the soft palate.

The soft palate is the muscular, flexible portion located at the back of the mouth. It plays a role in speech and swallowing by controlling the flow of air and food between the mouth and the throat.
