For example, if the rank is 75.3, round up to 76 and find the 76th value in the ordered data set.

To find the 30th percentile:
1. Arrange the data set in ascending order: 12, 15, 18, 22, 24, 27, 30, 32, 35, 40.
2. Calculate the rank: (30/100) * 10 = 3.
3. Since the rank is a whole number, the 3rd value in the ordered data set is the 30th percentile. In this case, it is 18.

Percentiles are commonly used in various fields like education, health, finance, and research to analyze data distributions, compare individuals or groups, and identify outliers. They provide a way to understand the relative standing of a particular value within a dataset.
