What are the two types of variables?
Quantitative and categorical
The two types of variables are independent variables and dependent variables.
Independent variables are variables that are manipulated or changed by the experimenter in order to observe the effect it has on the dependent variable. It is called independent because it does not depend on any other variable in the experiment; it is the variable being tested.
Dependent variables are variables that are measured or observed during the experiment and are expected to change as a result of the independent variable. It is called dependent because it depends on the independent variable and what happens in the experiment. Its value depends on the value of the independent variable.
