Here, (x’, y’) represents the new coordinates of the rotated point.
In three dimensions, a point (x, y, z) can be rotated by an angle θ counterclockwise around an axis defined by a unit vector (a, b, c) as follows:
x’ = (a^2*(1 – cos(θ)) + cos(θ)) * x + (a*b*(1 – cos(θ)) – c*sin(θ)) * y + (a*c*(1 – cos(θ)) + b*sin(θ)) * z
y’ = (a*b*(1 – cos(θ)) + c*sin(θ)) * x + (b^2*(1 – cos(θ)) + cos(θ)) * y + (b*c*(1 – cos(θ)) – a*sin(θ)) * z
z’ = (a*c*(1 – cos(θ)) – b*sin(θ)) * x + (b*c*(1 – cos(θ)) + a*sin(θ)) * y + (c^2*(1 – cos(θ)) + cos(θ)) * z
Here, (x’, y’, z’) represents the new coordinates of the rotated point.
