Congruent
Having the same size and shape
Congruent is a mathematical term that refers to when two figures or shapes have the same size and shape. In other words, two objects are congruent when they are exactly identical.
For example, two triangles are congruent if their corresponding sides are of the same length and their corresponding angles are of the same measure. If two triangles have different side lengths or angles, then they are not congruent.
Congruence is commonly denoted by using the symbol ≅ (an equals sign with a tilde on top). When we say that two shapes are congruent, we mean that we can slide, flip or rotate one shape to perfectly match the other shape.
In geometry, congruence is an important concept as it allows us to prove that two shapes are identical, therefore making it easier to solve problems and perform calculations related to these shapes.
