The derivative of the sum or difference of two functions can be found by taking the derivative of each function separately and then adding or subtracting the results, respectively.
That is, d/dx (f+-g) = d/dx(f) + d/dx(-g) = d/dx(f) – d/dx(g)
Thus, the derivative of (f+-g) is simply equal to the derivative of f minus the derivative of g.
