Nisei Regiment

The Nisei Regiment was a US Army infantry regiment consisting of Japanese American soldiers during World War II. “Nisei” refers to second-generation Japanese Americans, or American-born children of Japanese immigrants. The regiment was also known as the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
The Nisei Regiment was formed in response to the discrimination and suspicion that Japanese Americans faced following the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
