Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was an American statesman and politician who served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. FDR was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York, and grew up in a wealthy family of Dutch descent.
FDR is best known for his leadership during the Great Depression and World War II. He took office in the midst of the Great Depression, a severe economic downturn that had begun in 1929, and immediately set about implementing a series of programs collectively known as the New Deal. These programs aimed to stimulate the economy, create jobs, and provide various social and economic benefits to Americans struggling in the midst of the depression.

FDR also worked closely with Allied leaders, including Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin, to coordinate strategy and ensure victory against the Axis powers.
FDR was a charismatic leader who was beloved by many Americans. He gave numerous speeches, such as his “fireside chats,” in which he spoke directly to the American people and explained his policies and plans.
