1. Length: The length of a segment is the distance between its two endpoints. It can be determined by measuring the distance between the two points using a ruler or by applying the distance formula, which is the square root of the sum of the squares of the differences between the x-coordinates and y-coordinates of the endpoints.

2. Naming: Segments can be named by using any two distinct points along the line. For example, if we have a line with points P, Q, and R, we can form two segments: segment PQ and segment QR.

3. Interior and exterior: A segment divides a line into two parts, an interior and an exterior. The interior consists of all the points between the endpoints of the segment, including the endpoints. The exterior consists of all the points outside the segment.

4. Bisector: The midpoint of a segment is a point that divides the segment into two congruent halves. It is equidistant from the endpoints of the segment. The line segment connecting the midpoint with any point on the segment is called the bisector.

5. Intersection: Two line segments can intersect each other at a point, creating a new segment or point(s) of intersection.

Segments are fundamental in geometry and are used in various mathematical applications, such as measuring distances, constructing shapes, and solving geometric problems.
