These energy carriers, ATP and NADPH, are then utilized in the second phase of photosynthesis called the Calvin cycle, where carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is converted into glucose. Glucose is a form of chemical energy that plants can use for growth, metabolism, and other cellular processes.

Therefore, sunlight acts as the primary source of energy for plants, and through the process of photosynthesis, plants are able to convert this light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose, ultimately supplying the energy they need for survival and growth.
