The isomer that is only found in proteins is the L-isomer or L-amino acids. Proteins are made up of long chains of amino acids that are covalently bonded through peptide bonds. Although there are other types of amino acids such as D-amino acids, they are not found in proteins because the translation of the genetic code from nucleic acids to amino acids only recognizes the L-amino acids. So, in summary, only L-amino acids are found in proteins.
