Humoral
Stimulus that comes from molecule concentrations within cells
Humoral is a term that pertains to the body fluids or humors such as blood and lymph that carry essential substances throughout the body. The concept of humoral immunity, for instance, refers to the mechanism by which antibody molecules present in the blood or other body fluids target and eliminate foreign invading pathogens like bacteria and viruses.
The immune system is composed of various specialized cells, molecules, and tissues that work together to protect the body from harmful microbes and other antigens. In humoral immunity, B cells are responsible for producing and secreting specific antibodies that can recognize and bind to the specific antigen that initiated their production. These antibodies then tag the antigen for destruction by other immune cells, such as phagocytes or Natural Killer cells, or activate other proteins that promote the destruction of the antigen.
Overall, humoral immunity plays a critical role in the immune response to harmful invaders and helps to prevent the development of various diseases and infections.
