Major Crimes Unit: Investigating and Solving Serious Crimes.

Major crimes unit personnel will be notified and respond to the following incidents:

-homicides-Deaths involving suspicious circumstances-Shootings, including confirmed calls of shots fired-Aggravated battery, also **domestic aggravated battery**-Any violent crime were serious and or life-threatening injuries occur-In custody deaths-officer involved shootings-kidnapping/abduction-Adult sexual battery

1. Homicides
Homicides are the most serious crime which is characterized by the killing of another person. The major crimes unit personnel will respond immediately to investigate the circumstances, gather evidence and interview witnesses to identify the perpetrator(s) responsible for the crime. The goal will be to ensure that the perpetrator(s) is/are brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.

2. Kidnappings
Kidnappings occur when individuals are taken against their will. The major crimes unit personnel will respond to investigate and locate the missing persons, identify suspects and ensure the safe return of the victim.

3. Robberies
Robberies are crimes committed against individuals or commercial establishments with the use of force or fear of force. The major crimes unit personnel will investigate these incidents to identify the suspects, gather evidence, and recover any property that was stolen during the crime.

4. Sexual assaults
Sexual assaults are a serious offense and require immediate response from the major crimes unit personnel. They will investigate these incidents to determine the circumstances, gather evidence, and hold perpetrators accountable.

5. Bomb threats
Bomb threats require an immediate response from the major crimes unit personnel. The unit will investigate the threat to determine its credibility, evacuate any potentially affected areas, and ensure public safety.

6. Gang violence
Gang violence is a major issue, as it puts the public at risk. The major crimes unit personnel will investigate these incidents to determine individuals involved, seize illegal firearms and drugs, and disrupt the criminal activities of these gangs.

7. Hate crimes
Hate crimes are criminal acts that are motivated by prejudice against particular groups, such as race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender. The major crimes unit personnel will investigate these crimes and work to swiftly and decisively bring those responsible to justice.

8. Arson
Arson involves the intentional setting of fires in structures or vehicles. The major crimes unit personnel will investigate these incidents to determine the reason behind the fire, gather evidence, and bring the arsonist to justice.
