Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, primarily leading to memory loss and cognitive decline. It is a type of dementia that mainly affects older adults. The condition progresses slowly over time, eventually impacting the individual’s ability to carry out day-to-day tasks and communicate with others effectively.

The exact cause of Alzheimer’s Disease is still not wholly understood, but research suggests that brain cell damage and death happens due to the build-up of abnormal protein deposits in the brain. This affects the communication between nerve cells, leading to the symptoms seen in individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Some of the common symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease include forgetfulness, confusion, difficulty in problem-solving, impairment in judgment, loss of orientation, and mood swings. As it is a progressive disorder, the symptoms usually worsen over time.

At present, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. Still, some treatments are available that aim to manage the symptoms and improve the quality of life for individuals with the condition. Treatment options include medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and lifestyle changes.

The best way to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease is to adopt a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mental stimulation. Regular check-ups and screenings can also help detect the early onset of the condition.
