Felix Roxas y Arroyo was a prominent Filipino businessman and politician during the early 20th century. He was born on May 19, 1864, in Manila, Philippines. Roxas y Arroyo was known as the “King of Philippine Sugar” for his successful management of the Central Azucarera de la Carlota sugar mill and his extensive landholdings in Negros Island.

Aside from his business ventures, he was involved in Philippine politics. He served as a member of the Revolutionary Congress, which drafted the Malolos Constitution, the first constitution of the Philippines. He was also a member of the Malolos Congress, which convened in 1898.

Roxas y Arroyo was one of the founding members of the Partido Nacionalista, the first Philippine political party. He was elected to the Philippine Assembly in 1907 and served three terms as a member of the House of Representatives.

He played a significant role in the development of Western Visayas, particularly in Negros Island. Roxas y Arroyo established the Philippine National Bank branch in Bacolod and was instrumental in the founding of University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos.

Felix Roxas y Arroyo died on March 4, 1945, in Manila, Philippines. He left a lasting legacy as a successful businessman and politician who made significant contributions to the economic and political developments of the Philippines.
