Patriots believe in the importance of preserving and protecting their country’s traditions, culture, and freedoms.
In the United States, “patriot” is often associated with the founding fathers who fought against British rule and established the country. The term “patriotism” is often used to express love and pride for one’s country, and is often emphasized during national holidays such as Independence Day.
While patriotism can be a positive force, it also has the potential to be divisive or even dangerous if it is used to justify discrimination, nationalism or xenophobia. A balance between love of country and respect for others is necessary for true patriotism.
